BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN FAITH AND SCIENCE

STEAM from a

Christian Prespective

Christian STEAM (science, technology, engineering, agriculture/art and math) was  written based on the scripture, "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made". Hebrews 11:3 This workbook teaches about how  when God created the world he created STEAM. Christian STEAM encourages engagment between adults and youth to learn about faith and science simultaneously.

Why a STEAM
education is
important

A STEAM education best prepares children for the future

A STEAM education is important for a number of reasons. STEAM is important for the present and the future to prepare children for careers that will be in high demand. Science is important for medical and other fields. Computer and IT jobs have been reported as the hardest to fill. Technology is a major part of our everyday lives and will continue to be. Art education is important because it allows students to learn in a more open ended way. So a STEAM education is important to prepare our young people to take their place in the global workforce and become future innovators.

Christian STEAM connects the dots between God’s Creation and the world we live in. It bridges the gap between faith and science utilizing scripture, discussion questions, hands on STEAM activities, career exploration and life application. The three major areas of Scripture, Activities and Thought are the inspiration for helping one in the maturing of one’s faith.  The Thought brings the chapter full circle back to the scripture.

What People are Saying…

“The beautiful thing that it does… is that it blends the faith and the school.”

First things first -- I WISH I’d had something like this when my own children were younger!!

I can see this book being used in so many ways -- extracurricular activities, group activities, something to do on long road trips, summer enrichment, church/Bible school/Sunday school enrichment, etc. etc. etc. Much like Wendy, I was a parent who was always looking for outside of the box activities for my children -- we’d go to an event, then discuss it and all of the aspects surrounding it. We’d go to church, then discuss what was learned - it always amazed me how they could each get something completely different out of the same message. Even in school --having the same curriculum and attending a Christian school, they approached things and learned differently. Moving the focus to my ‘church children’ and the hours that we spent together for our Bible trivia team -- an activity book like this would have been a fantastic supplement, since we were always trying to come up with ideas to make the Bible quizzing fun.

Sign me up for a copy (or two, or three, . . . or a dozen) when it is officially released! I will share this with everyone that I know with children in the suggested age range. It can actually also help those older children (and adults) who are new to Christianity and learn well visually and by doing. I can imagine the light in a person’s eyes when they read the Word, have a concentrated activity that explains that scripture, and are able to apply the Word to an everyday, real life situation! God is all around us and in everything that we do, so why NOT draw attention to it in a fun and interesting way. Not to mention the STEAM aspect! Those who follow STEM career paths are often very analytical and data driven, which unfortunately, can cause confusion for those who are believers (and even more confusion for those who are unbelievers). This book will create an excellent, Bible based, bridge -- Christianity and STEAM CAN and DO coexist!

Great job, Wendy!!
